About World Malayalee Council

World Malayalee Council (Malayalam: ലോക മലയാളി പരിഷദ് Loka Malayali Parishad) or abbreviated as WMC was formed on July 3, 1995 in New Jersey. World Malayalee Council was inaugurated at the first ever World Convention of Non Resident Malayalees. The main objective of this organization is to provide a non-political forum to bring together the widely scattered community of people of Malayalee/Kerala origin and strengthen the common bonds of culture, tradition and way of life.

`WORLD MALAYALEE COUNCIL (WMC) is a global Organization of People of Kerala origin and is a nonpartisan, non-sectarian global organization engaged
in promoting the welfare and empowerment of Malayalees living across the globe, especially those who live outside the State of Kerala and those who have
returned after working outside Kerala, by enhancing cooperation and communication among the Malayalee Diaspora and Malayalees living in Kerala.

World Malayalee Council works towards an international brotherhood of Malayalees / people of Kerala origin to bolster their cultural, artistic and social uniqueness and give resilience and understanding towards other cultures with which they have to co-exist and interact. World Malayalee Council, the organisation working with the Malayalee diaspora across the Globe. The Malayalee (Malayalam: മലയാളി) are an ethno-linguistic group native to the South Indian state of Kerala and the UnionTerritory of Lakshadweep and have the Malayalam language as their mother tongue. The Malayali community in India has a history of immigrants to the region from various parts of the world, as well as a unique sub-culture owing to the tropical environment of the state.

VISION

World Malayalee Council aims at creating a dynamic link between the Malayalee Diaspora and the motherland to enhance and empower the Social Capital
of the community, inculcating the core values of Diversity, and Excellence.

MISSION

World Malayalee Council shall be working closely with the people of Kerala origin across the globe for effectively promoting their integration, exchange, cooperation, empowerment and recognition through innovative programs, projects and institutions in the fields of economic, cultural and social empowerment to augment and channelize the Social capital of the Malayalee Community, by providing a thought leadership, for a productive and sustainable future.

GLOBAL CONFERENCE

The 10 th Biennial Global Conference of World Malayalee Council, which was held in Bangalore, India from August 26-28, elected its global leadership for 2016-2018 headed by Mr.Issac John Pattaniparambil ( Dubai ) as the chairman and Dr. A. V. Anoop [Chennai] as WMC Global President.

The three-day conference, which was inaugurated by former Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, and attended by ministers and high ranking government officials, elected a 41-member Executive Council under the supervision of Dr. J. Alexander IAS [Retd.], the Chief Nomination & Election Commissioner of WMC.

Mr.T.P. Vijayan [Pune] is Secretary General, Mr. C. U. Mathai (Dubai) Secretary, and Mr.Jobinson Kottathil [Switzerland] Treasurer.

The first executive council meeting of the new team has called upon members across WMC’s 57 provinces across the world to  expand the reach and revitalize the activities of the organization.

The three-day conference, drew more than 400 delegates from across India and abroad.  Ambassador TP Sreenivasan,  Dr babu Paul  IAS, former Additional Chief Secretary of Kerala, Dr.Christy Fernandez IAS, former Secretary General of Rashtrapathy Bhavan, Mr.U. T. Khader, Minister for Food and Public Distribution Karnataka; Om Prakash, Director General of Police, Karnataka, prominent businessmen including Gokulam Goplan, Bobby Cehmmannur, were among the participants.

“We are quite upbeat about the future of WMC as a think tank for the Malayalee Daispora. We believe, our new team will be able to help reposition WMC as a more vibrant, functional and proactive body relevant to the present day needs of the community at large,” Pattaniparampil said.

“WMC is the most authentic and widely represented rallying point for global Malayalees. The global conference in Bangalore will give the organisation a new vitality and direction so that it can play a more construction leadership role,” Pattaniparampil said in his message.

“Global Chairman also express his profound gratitude for the warmth and friendship the Bangalore Province team and organizers of the conference led by Paul Fernandez and Dr Vasantha have shown to all delegates.

“Every one has played a vital role in making the event memorable and indeed a defining moment of WMC in its next level of growth. He is grateful to Dr J Alexander, Chief NEC for gracing the occasion.”

The Global chairman congratulated the outgoing leadership led by Mr.VC Praveen as Chairman , Mr. Johny Kuruvilla as Advisory Council Chairman and Mr.A.S.Jose as Goodwill Ambassador, for facilitating  the smooth transfer of power.
